Extremely valuable insight and advice on drum programming. It really challenges you to take your rhythm programming seriously and think about different ways to keep from mousing in generic beats. Battery is primarily used here as a tool for explaining the drumming concepts; this is not "Battery: The Video Manual." It DOES cover the basic usage though. We could probably stand to have another, more techy Battery lesson- primarily because Native Instruments' Battery 3 manual is surprisingly bad- many, many features aren't even mentioned in the official documentation. THIS course is about much more than simply how to use a software product.

An amazing and very professional done tutorial. I loved the introduction of how real drum playing sounds, this gave the following individual videos the right basis. The information regarding the different tools within battery couldn´t be better and is well explained. As a Logic Pro 9 user, many things are similar to Logic´s Ultrabeat or EXS24.

Battery may be the most difficult instrument to explain. If you just focus on the program, you still won't know much about rhythm, and if you focus on the rhythm, there's a lot to Battery you'll miss or end up doing the hard way. That being said, the author of this tutorial tries to explain as much as possible about both the instrument and the playing, and it makes this tutorial seem quite sloppy and unfinished. The tutorial goes through a lot of Battery's functions really fast (and even skips some of the important ones like sample purging), sometimes so much it seems like a tutorial not on how to use Battery, but rather what can it do. However, once you do learn how to use it, you'll realize it IS all about wha you want from your rhythm, and from that point on it's mostly about long hours of playing with Battery's settings and functions. This tutorial emphasizes on that. That being said, this is a fast, somewhat messy tutorial, good for opening your mind to alternative rhythm arrangements, but definitely not for Battery first-timers or beginners at creating rhythms.

I have literally searched the internet for years looking for this type of information to break out of robotic beats. So glad this tutorial was made. Its chock full of all the stuff you need to know to make bobbin head drum beats...awesome. Well done and thank you
