I am glad that the first MPV course on synthesis covers creating music electronically. The historical timeline of synthesis machine progress is good information to understand. I feel like knowing the basics of synthesis is as fundamental to my role as a music producer as knowing music theory. Looking forward to the more advanced synthesis courses!

Beat Detective
Apr 22, 2015
Beat detective is a powerful, yet occasionally confusing tool. There are many ways its functionality can be applied to music production and this tutorial covers them all in detail - accompanied with examples. There is so much practical information to absorb that I plan to revisit the whole lesson….possibly several times!

New Features Explored

I starting using Pro Tools on a daily basis this month. With previous DAW experience, and this Pro Tools 11 tutorial, I have been able to transition more seamlessly into using this product. I would recommend adding a higher level Pro Tools course with this exact same layout, given that Pro Tools has many other relevant features that were not covered in this course. Good work MPV!

Good overview on workflow and interaction between hardware and software components. Some good tips about mixing and mastering techniques. Overall I found this tutorial touches the surface with some good tips. Would love to see an in-depth tutorial on how Billy sculpts his sounds.

Great introduction to orchestration and film scoring compliments other videos such as enhanced realism By Schwartz. Teacher takes you slowly step by step and gives a methodical process that expanded my composition. I ma a song writer and realized the importance of the 5th Beatles in any mix... I am watching this SLOWLY implementation is the key. Can't wait for more chapters of this valuable yet not too analytical approach.

The Electronic Artist's Revealed series never fails to impress me! Billy Dalessandro's Sonic Combustion is another unique tutorial that focuses on the workflow of the music producer. His flexibility when it comes to exploring creative techniques is refreshing. This focus on the intangible processes of music making are just as important as music theory or production techniques.

Lead Sheet Project
Apr 7, 2015
Thomas Goss has constructed an easy to understand comprehensive beginner's tutorial. This is a truly gifted teacher, comfortable in the medium of video tutorials. I only wish I could have found the supplementary, yet essential materials he outlined in the tutorial (The Greensleeves pdf etc.) supposedly on the "Sibelius Product page of macProVideo.com." Alas, I could not find it! Other than that, really great for me.

Advanced MIDI Toolbox
Apr 4, 2015
I entered the Cubase world with Cubase Pro 8. This tutorial is for an older version of Cubase but I had to come back to this tutorial of an older version to learn the MIDI features in the current version of Cubase. I found it well worth coming back here to watch this older version MIDI training. I'm a recent Pro Tools refugee and this tutorial, and Cubase blow me away at what can be done with MIDI, where Pro Tools 12 still doesn't have a clue beyond simple sequencing. Absolutely amazing what...

I really like Eyal Amir. I hope he does more Cubase course. He is, like me a total music geek, but also so charismatic. Better still, he gives very practical course. I learned a lot... Even though I do not record live drums, this course was very useful. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because, it do not record live drums. Again, I hope Eyal does more Cubase courses... I will definitely tune in.

Nice introduction into audio for games. I think to start with a video game history is really smart. Lots of examples for suitable moods. I am more interested in the first few chapters, cause the last ones are getting to much in detail and for me as a non game audio designer not so relevant.
-n4Sphere
Fantastic course. It's a lot of work to score anything, but the basic concepts are here. Vey useful information, it really gave me a perspective on how to do this.
-Hindie
This would be better if the notes were displayed on a keyboard rather than on a staff. Most of us know the notes on the keyboard but do not read music. Somebody should start doing music theory for those of us that do not read music. In fact of all the DJ/producers I know - NONE read music.

10.1 In-Depth
Mar 30, 2015
Excellent Overview Course. Particularly helpful for those that haven't had time to take all of the individual modules previously. I certainly know a lot more about drummers than I did before! Very much appreciated the highlighted (Orange Bar) messages. They're a bit like buying a used textbook that was previously owned by an A+ student. To a certain extent, the highlight messages cause the student (well, me anyway) to pause or pause/repeat in order to process all the information being given...

This course is a good overview of all the delay and reverb effects. The difference between flanger, phasing and chorus are not so huge and it was a little boring for me. But other then that, really informative. Thumbs up.

Mar 30, 2015
Another excellent tutorial by Rishabh Rajan! I just love his style and voice... You can tell he as true hero of the synth world :-) I will be looking for his stuff, every time new synths or updates are released. I just love how he breaks down all of the complex stages of the serum synth and covers all the basic operations and details of this very advanced synthesizer!
-FadedShadows
This course works well on setting the ground needed to do dialogue editing. The first half takes up the pre-preparation which really is a necessity. The second half on how to actually work with the dialogue in waveforms is probably the most comprehensive I have seen. It consolidated almost 2 years of school I went to into a four hour course. It's that good!
-Jim McDonnell
That's how it should be down. Excellent explanations of EQs, compressors and mixing. Nice examples and good overall structure. First theoretical background then in use practicing. "Thumbs up"
-n4Sphere
This course covers not only game audio, but also a little bit of gaming history. It offers an overview of what should be considered and not how to produce the perfect game score. There's plenty of historical and theoretical background to get motivated why game audio can be your step into business. Great!!
-n4Sphere
David Earl is a fantastic teacher. He explains things very well and I had no trouble following along. It seems like this course is missing videos at the end. He only showed how to make pretty bell and brassy tones; I know this synth is capable of doing a lot more such as heavy electronic complextro and dubstep sounds.
-Zekagiu
Brilliant! As a Cubase user, and for anyone looking to understand edit techniques, this course is invaluable. And Ayal is always a treat to watch. Thanks MPV for another great Cubase tut. Please keep them coming. Cheers.

This course has been ideal for an introduction to setting up a home studio at my house. Jim Pavett is one of the most impressive instructors for MacProVideo, and there is no shortage of them. Course is quick and concise. However, VCA definition isn't found in Logic Help, isn't found in the course itself, and had to be looked up on the www - where it was found in reference to Pro Tools. Since the "Define VCA" question looks a bit like a trick question (ie, "Amplification" - or - "Automation" ? Hmmmm) it would be best if this abbreviation is spelled out slowly and clearly - that is - tell us what the definition means -- and why knowing that matters. The VCA concept is related to ...

Having transitioned from another DAW to Ableton, this course has opened up an infinite possible directions for my future productions. Clearly explained and easy to understand, Timo shares his experience of many different areas that will surely help improve your originality and experimental inspiration, thoroughly enjoyed the course. Olav really has a way of explaining things clearly - this course has everything I was looking for, and he clearly demonstrated the how's and why's of the most common production techniques. Although he uses Ableton Live 9, it doesn't matter what DAW you're using, because of the way he explains the purpose of each effect - the plug-ins will vary from DAW to DAW, but the principle remains the same.

Lots of examples and sound demos. But a little bit to long for me. It's easy to get board when you hear over and over again the same sound. The content is good, but also here i expected something different. I miss the interactive learning part. This kind of video can benefit from dynamic cuts.

Audio & Sound Basics
Mar 19, 2015
This is the first "technical audio" video I fully understand. The author describes all the key topics really easy and I as a non musician can understand it. The video is really nice arranged with sound examples, waveforms etc. This is by far the best video series I have ever seen on macprovideo.com. 10STARS

Mastering EDM Tracks
Mar 18, 2015
A nice course about mastering. A do it yourself approach, well suited for the EDM producer as well for any other genre. It's all about using the information well.
-Hindie
Even if you have a later version of Logic this is one of the best tutorials for really understanding the tools for Mastering. Highly recommend for anyone who finds the compressors, limiters and EQ daunting.
-Kurt Weber
These tutorials are an excellent jumpstart for me, very informative and easy to follow along!

Mixing EDM Tracks
Mar 17, 2015
Great mixing course. To mix you need a solid foundation and advanced tech knowledge. Here, you'll find both.
-Hindie
Solid slow deliberate delivery. Covers all bases for brushes, vectors, transform. I need to practice the "pen" tool. but very powerful.

I was not keen on devoting $50 and 76+ minutes to yet another software product that would divert me from more pressing matters, but I am glad I did. I had seen this type of product reviewed before, and the verdict was usually, "good idea but needs more work to make it really useful" This course dealt with the strengths, weaknesses and work-arouds for those weaknesses The real test for such a course is, "can you apply it in your own work practices"? I am glad to say it has accelerated my learning...

The EAR series are really a fresh approach and shows all the secretes i did not know or never thought about it. The whole video covers in detail drums and how to tune them. The effect chains are so useful and you can really hear a huge difference with just 2-3 plug ins. Also worth mentioning the stereo widening tipps. Thumbs up really good one!

Concise, no waffle and straight to the point overview of iZotope's Iris. A well constructed video forming a great introduction to Iris and ideal for those new to the audio processing synth/sampler.

The beginning really feels like a commercial for Guitar Rig put out by the company. Then it goes into pitching how wonderful all of the paid for add ins are. But once you got past that, it had some good information.

Core Omnisphere
Mar 14, 2015
Initially concerned that the Live chapters were going to skirt around the programming of Omnisphere, I need not have worried. I particularly appreciated how this course didn't really require any prior synth concepts and programming knowledge to understand how to program Omnisphere. A great introduction to this synth.
-Phil Mountford
Sound Recording
Mar 14, 2015
Another great course covering all the essentials in good, useful detail. I really enjoyed the chapter about Analogue and Digital conversion - it's an example of the sort of stuff you kind of know about - but this course gives you the full picture.
-A Spooner
Great Project, very informative! I really enjoyed this, and it was interesting to see your workflow. The only thing I would have liked to see was more specifics and explanations on your recording setup and mixing, specifically, what mic pres, what hardware on the front end, what compressor and eq on vocals, what processing did you do on bass. You guys do good work, and the track sounded WAY better than I thought it was going to!
-Chris
Very useful information about drums and bass. I think it's time for a second series, with all the new updates, and some fresh creative ideas. I enjoyed watching this :)
-Hindie
Very clear and informative rundown of newest features in Cubase. Highly recommended for everyone updating to version 8.
-Pecchan
Fantastic course. I studied Gary's Secret Composer (which I keep referring to) and this Mac Pro course (delivers the materials in a fresh way. This is more than just a course on creation of moods. The beauty of this course lies in seeing Gary in action and to learn orchestration secrets from this master of orchestration. If you want to buy just 1 course from Macpro video, let this be it!
-Nima Ranjbar
Peter's Score Editor tutorial was a masterpiece of thoroughness, simplicity and humor! Like Steve H, Peter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his tutorials and they are produced to make complex subjects easy to understand and adds a quirky sense of humor to keep it from getting too dry. This one is a worthy successor to his Score Editor masterpiece and has easily saved me YEARS of learning by other means. Great job again, Ski!

Introducing Cubase 7.5
Mar 12, 2015
A great overview of the new features of Cubase 7.5 Even though the program is now at version 8, this tutorial covers many things not included in other tutorials. Recommended!
-Pecchan
Kudos to Mike Watkinson, for this very informative tutorial. I found the techniques to be incredibly valuable, in saving time and trouble shooting, when loading sessions from other artist or producers. It's great to be able to have my own custom I/O setup, that I can import, when working on outside projects.

In terms of using Lightroom for editing objects, I'm still unclear. However, the tips on how to use Photoshop for advance editing of objects and people is worth the cost of an annual subscription to MacProVideo in itself. Can't wait to view the other advanced courses.

Mo's is definitively one of my favorite teacher! Always easy to follow, understand and very dynamic. Direct to key point, no waste of time. I highly recommend this course.
-Dan
This is one of the best video/course of Maschine i have ever seen. Really detail break down of Jeremy Ellis Routine. Useful information is schon next to the actual recording - and is really helpful. Also Jeremy speaks really good with lots of real impressions and bridges from topic to topic. This is really a long video. I highly recommend it watching it not at once. It is too much content and I got tired. Other then that absolute recommendation also for non Maschine users!
-n4Sphere
I like the way Jordan Rudess presents this course. You can easily see his background as a keyboard. His really rocking the Push. Good introduction of how to use Push as an instrument with lots of musically parts.
-n4Sphere
This 300 level MIDI Orchestration course is the perfect addition to the 100 level courses offered here on MPV. The tutorials offer beginner to advanced tools and concepts of improving your MIDI orchestration. The thing is, these ideas in MIDI can be translated to other types of music production programming. I would recommend this course to any music producer, even people who don't particularly use this type of musical material in their projects.
-Brock
I always like to see how a song is born from scratch and follows all the steps until the final product. This what this course is giving and why I liked it.
-Dan
A lot of things fell into place after watching this course. The delivery was great and the examples were clear and went into really good detail. Highly recommended. I took one star off because I found the volume of some examples was very low compared to the voiceover volume - particularly in the compression tutorials - making it difficult to monitor the outcomes.
-A Spooner
Great for beginning FM8. This will get your started. You get the basics of most of the bells and whistles, but not all of them. I would love to take a more advanced course.
-Black Wing
Great course. Useful information and some very good tips and tricks of the trade.
-Hindie
Great overview of UAD plug ins used in a production environment. The highlight for me was a tip for the LA-2A plugin: Use two plugins in series the first as a compressor the second as a limiter.

cool idea! i never thought about to use random as a midi effect or all the other tools. first i thought this sounds not good at all, but then the chopped versions made sense. the percussion part sounds really cool. i think this course will boost creating music for me. The Oscillator
Mar 5, 2015
This course is more for people which like how things really, really work. For me it was a bit too much and boring. The Oscilloscope was a really nice touch to illustrate the waveforms. I did not know that oscillators are so complex to dedicate its own course. All the explanation are good, but 10 times hearing similar sounds was too much for me.

This video series is what made made feel comfortable switching to Yosemite! Great Work!
-Neo60204
I thought this class was an informative tutorial that covered only the basics of the Traktor Pro interface and the Traktor F1 hardware. Additional examples of live DJ'ing with Traktor hardware or more advanced DJ concepts would have made this course more fulfilling.
-Brock
I'm in the process of migrating from Logic to Cubase and this tutorial, even though it's for version 7, gave me very solid understanding of the basics. Thank you!

Jazz Improvisation 202 is a continuation of the Jazz 201 course. The information in the tutorials cover Jazz theory in a way that you can immediately implement them into your live controllerism or keyboard playing.I recommend this course and look forward to more advanced theory classes!
-Brock
Outstanding training. Only someone who really knows what they're doing can create a course like this - a perfect mix of detail and broad conceptual understanding. Reminds me of Trish and Chris Meyer's book on After Effects (high praise intended). After watching the free 101 course I knew I had to see the rest. I have to get up and running on Motion 5 in a hurry and Mr Wohl's course is *perfect* for that. The pace is brisk but deep and never boring. I considered a few other courses for Motion...
-Jon L
This Jazz Theory class provided me with the most practical music playing exercises over any of the available theory classes so far. Lead Sheet Project
Feb 27, 2015
This is an incredible course to get started with Sibelius. It's organized in a very logical way and the instructor's explanations are clear and easy to follow. There's no better way to learn than to apply what you're learning to accomplish a goal, and this course gives you the opportunity to do this in the form of the construction of a lead sheet. Mr. Goss is a superb teacher and I'm looking forward to more of his courses.

Inside Info
Feb 25, 2015
Easily one of the most interesting courses I've seen on this site: Pajic never ignores his audience's needs, and even when discussing advanced concepts manages to keep his viewer interested. This course is NOT for Live 9 beginners, but intermediate and advanced users will have a field day. Moreover, when Pajic brings in third-party plugins, he usually presents a solid case as to why they should be purchased. I cannot see any downside to viewing this course.

Evolution of a Song
Feb 22, 2015
Not the way I do it. That's why I watched it. Lots of interesting techniques that I will certainly use in the future. I almost gave only four stars because there was little mention of mic techniques used and why - which was a major mention in the opening of the project. I would like to know more about recording without isolation too (live kit). Nice work!
-Craig Keefer
This guy... seriously... he not only makes it look easy, but he shows you how easy it can truly be. I immediately got onto my push and tried some of his techniques. Blown away! Now what is crazy, is that I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY A PIANO/KEYBOARD. I'm freaking out that i've been able to play and improvise with so much more ease. It's like i sprouted technique from nowhere! Very good, gives an excellent over view of Garage Band on the IPad and the Mac as well as Logic Pro. I learned quite a few things in the song's "journey" through the three platforms.Demonstrates how Garageband on the IPad and Mac, shouldn't be treated as just a beginner's or novice application but can be a integral part of a musical process. Very Impressive.

Exploring Kontakt 5
Feb 21, 2015
Great general overview of Native Instruments iconic sampler 'Kontakt' by Matt Vanacoro. Looking forward to watching the 'Kontakt Advanced' course now.
-Paul
I really enjoyed this video because Jordan was approaching this as a performing musician, not so much as a producer, so he delved into some playing techniques that are beyond what most producers might think of or be capable of. I really enjoyed how he took a very musical approach to using the controller.
-Great for developing technique o
Absolutely awesome course by Bill Burgess on drum programming in Native Instruments Battery. Bill is by far my favourite music trainer, if is music is even half as interesting and creative as his courses I will buy the lot!

10.1 In-Depth
Feb 21, 2015
Nice work by the ninja. This update to Logic Pro contains tons of new features and this course helps you to make the most of them.
-Double D
Good stuff. Only wish he would have demonstrated the use of the 2 new automation functions (just tug the fader up and down once each). It stood out to me because this issue with volume automation rendering faders unusable has long been a pet peeve and one which I experienced no less than a week ago. I figured it was purposely left out as a tease to get you into the 10.1 in depth course.

This was the best course out of the six music theory foundation classes covered by Gregg. The amount of concept involving chord progressions to my knowledge seemed comprehensive compared to some of the other classes. I would recommend this for any music producer or singer/songwriter.

Basslines
Feb 18, 2015
This is possibly the most in-depth 100 level music theory course available by the instructor Gregg. The emphasis is placed on identification, creating bass lines, and understanding these concepts through more advanced musical systems such as Jazz and Blues. I feel like I understand everything I need to know when creating bass compositions for my music.
-Brock
There are alot of very useful techniques in this course that the working composer should know about if they don't already. Some of them may be a little exotic if you're working to a tight deadline but many are essential in adding that extra realism. The slight tongue in cheek and entertaining approach in places makes this tutorial enjoyable to watch and therefore easier to learn from.
-Phil Mountford
No need to go shopping for tons of 3rd party drum machines and drum libraries. Nigel Broad hands us a plethora of information which helps us transform new ideas for beat making, and song writing. 5 stars!
-B. Rico
This tutorial has been a huge help. I can't believe it has less than an hour running time and I learned exactly what I needed to get started in 2D animation. I was working on an animation in Flash before the I finished the tutorial. Looking forward to the other parts in the series. Thanks!

Feb 17, 2015
This course on rhythm got better and better as it moved on to lessons describing genres and intermediate rhythmic concepts. There is a lot that could be put into this tutorial, but given the length, it has still been a valuable tool for me.

Feb 15, 2015
Excellent. In just over an hour of casual viewing I feel I have a much better understanding of a complex program that is often not all that intuitive. Perfect for beginners!
-Eric Weller
The new features of Logic Pro 10.1 in a very nice overview - quick and informational. Well done - thank you!
-StayingInTheFlow
It's difficult to pitch a course like this at the right level but even seasoned composers I think will get some nuggets from this. My only disappointment is that there is room for much more exploration of the techniques used in scoring for picture that I hope is covered in subsequent videos because this really is a very good starter.
-Phil Mountford
Really enjoyed this course by Steve Horelick on Logic's modelling synthesiser 'Sculpture'.I forgot how versatile this synth is, and more importantly how good it sounds. Looking forward to watching the Sculpture sound design now.
-Paul
Great course by Martin Sitter on Logic's super powerful environment. This is definitely the course for you if you are just deleting into Logic's environment! Although these tutorials were depicted in Logic 7, all the information and knowledge contained within are easily transferable to any newer version of Logic.
-PAUL
Excellent course by Steve H about Mastering audio in Logic Pro. I liked how he give a overview of mastering history at the beginning as well as some practical examples of typical mastering processes. I have been singing that flaming wheels song all day haha catchy to say the least!
-Paul
I thought that this course was great at explicitly outlining harmonic techniques used in motion video scoring. I think there could be an advanced class with tutorials to further expand on these concepts, but this approach is seldom seem with other tutorials involving music theory and how it works with the entertainment industry.
-Brock
Triumph: Explored

While Triumph can be figured out through trial and error, it is very handy to have an example of workflow to show off the features. The tutorial does a very good job of demonstrating the ease of use, once Triumph is understood. Thank you.

I love the Song Craft series. I've watched them all, and this one is to me the best, though they are all great. This series is unlike anything I have ever seen, providing candid and enlightening insight into song creation, from start to finish, with such creative people. MIDI Demystified
Feb 12, 2015
Of all the top educators at AskVideo, Peter Schwartz is definitely the all time toppest! Pretty voice, brilliant humour, clear explanation, unsurpassable know how (technically as wel as musically) etc. etc. AskVideo, be careful with this guy!
-Robart
Another excellent Logic Pro TNT course by Steve H and quests. I forgot how good these courses were, and how powerful and more importantly creative the Environment is.
-Paul
excellent overview - looking forward to more in depth treatments in the future!

In every tutorial I have purchased, I have found at least a couple of nuggets of good information that has made me fairly happy with my purchase. In this tutorial, however, I got something from just about EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER. I kept saying to myself, "Dang! Gotta try that!" over and over and over.
-Darren
Awesome tutors, Loving it!!!!!!!! 6 out of 5, this class helped got a grip of Ableton 9 quicker than Sonic Academy or Lynda. The are good but this tutors are great here.
-Williams Areloegbe
A pretty comprehensive overview of what's new in Cubase 7. At times a little too verbose (particularly spelling out all of the key shortcuts) but definitely well worth watching even if you have a more recent version of Cubase and just want to see what features of Cubase 7 you've not yet discovered or used, as I do.
-Phil Mountford
Acoustics
Feb 11, 2015
Another great course from Joe Albano, my favorite teacher on here. If you are new to acoustics, this is gold. Otherwise its still a great review, and you may still learn a thing or two. Very thorough yet easy to understand.
-District Sound Lab
Great Logic Pro master class by the main man Steve H! Although this course was produced in Logic Pro (8 and 9 I believe) most of information can be transferred to Logic Pro X quite easily. Key commands and menus a bit different, thats about it.

Audio Repair Toolbox 2
Feb 11, 2015
Truly excellent course on Izotopes RX4 by Matthew Loel T. Hepworth. Once again Matthew provides a comprehensive and in-depth overview of this extremely powerful audio repair application, as well as demonstrating many practical scenarios for its use.
-Paul
Perfect amount of detail of everything from microphones, recording techniques and post-recording EQ, compression and limiting. As someone who really knows Logic Pro X, I still learned about a few features and techniques that I had never used before. By applying the various Logic features to the mechanics of recording and editing a simple audio track, this gave context to learning how to use those Logic features. I especially enjoyed the pragmatic approach of building a Voiceover template because...
-Ellisberg
I thought this introduction course on Logic X supplemented my music production schooling perfectly. The concepts are given out in a manner that doesn't waste your time. It is a good way to get yourself oriented going into watching more advanced courses on Logic Pro X
-Brock
This Ableton Instruments review tutorial is exactly what I needed as someone who just started using Live 9 and Push in the last couple weeks. Would recommend this streamlined class to anyone who doesn't have years of synthesizer experience or sound design experience.
-Brock
I truly wish I had watched this series sooner I would have made better mixes and it would of made me a much better audio engineer. This is by far one of the best and most useful audio useful courses (and I have taken many) I have taken in my life... Peter Schwartz is an awesome teacher, extremely detailed, breaks signal flow to you in baby steps.
-JDJ
Thanks for this course! I learned a lot and more! Toby explains things so that even I can understand ;-). I'm getting really inspired after watching this! Hope to see some followups on Superior in the future.

The Producer
Feb 9, 2015
Michael Wohl is a fantastic teacher. He is clearly extremely knowledgeable and presents in a straight-forward and comprehensible way. There is no doubt he covers a massive amount of material at a break-neck pace, but it is totally comprehensible and effortless to follow. The titles and graphics are clear and tastefully done. All in all, this is a terrific course. MacProVideo, please make certain he actually makes all the advanced courses he so tantalizingly refers to from time-to-time. I will un...

Great overview of Logic Pro's most salient plugins for the main man Steve H. Although this course was produced in Logic 7, apart from GUI aesthetics all knowledge and techniques can be easily transferred to newer versions of Logic, or any other DAW for that matter. On a personal note, I am really disappointed 'The Igorizer' was discontinued in Logic 7 :-P
-Paul
I thought this course on harmony was great! Jordan has three courses on Ma Pro Video, and all of them are detailed and specific on the advanced techniques that are outlined in the class. Worth your time if you are a piano player or live controllerist.
-Brock
Really good overview of the physics of sound presented in typical Steve H style. There was some really interesting tutorials within this course, that were explained well. The only downside to this course is that it is not long enough!
-Paul

Keyboard Wizdom
Feb 9, 2015
This course is worth your time! It is definitely one of the more advanced MIDI controller concept courses on this website. I thought the layering techniques with the live song examples really helped me understand how I can look at a keyboard and improve my live playing capabilities.
-Brock Harris
Great little course on Logic Pros EFM1 by David Earl (or you can call me Logic Ninja, I don't care). It's nice how he describes FM synthesis theory whilst explaining each of the EFM1's parameters and what effect that particular parameter has on the sound. You can really achieve some 'phat' sounding basses out of this basic little FM synth! I often reach for the EFM1 over FM8 when creating simple but sold bass tones.
-Paul
Vocoding With EVOC
Feb 8, 2015
Great little course on Logic Pro's EVOC 20 Vocoder by David Earl. Dave provides an overview of all the EVOC's features and demonstrates how it can be used in several practical applications - definitely worth the watch for any Logic Pro users.

Another excellent synthesis course by Rishabh Rajan this time demonstrating the power and versatility of Native Instruments Massive! If new to synthesis, or to Native Instruments Massive, I would definitely recommend watching Massive Essentials first.
-Paul
Matt continues with his follow-on course in photography of everything in basic lighting. It's a very well rounded lecture. I wish he would have included a few examples of photos with the various types of lighting he discussed....a picture is worth a few thousand words, as they say.
-GregG
Great tutorial on the production of a drum and bass track by Nigel Broad in Logic Pro. Nigel demonstrates how he builds a track from start-to-finish in this course; his workflow, production and mixing techniques. Although this course was produced in an earlier version of Logic Pro (8 I believe) all techniques shown can be easily transferred to other DAWs, including Logic Pro X :-P

Dubstep Deconstructed
Feb 8, 2015
Excellent allrounder course on producing, mixing and mastering dub-step music by Nigel Broad in Logic Pro 9. Excellent course by Matt Vanacoro on Audiofile Engineering 'Triumph'. This application looks very promising for audio editing, post production and mastering applications on a mac.

Loop Editor: Explored
Feb 7, 2015
Although this application is not for me, Loop Editor looks quite versatile, and Matt Vanacoro demonstrates its uses and functionality well. I did enjoy the Loop Theory section at the end, some interesting and creative loop ideas.
-Paul
Pretty good overview of how to put together a set and use controllers. You can tell Matt is extremely experienced and talented. Suggestions for improvement would be to see more descriptions of the operation of the program as he used it. He would do edits and move things around etc. but didn't always show what keys he pressed or how he did his moves. It's always good to find out people's little quick moves when they work. Overall a good tutorial and it's nice to see ableton and controllers i...

Ultrabeat Unleashed
Feb 7, 2015
Excellent course by Steve Horelick demonstrating the power and versatility of Logic Pro's mighty Ultrabeat Drum Synth! This course is still relevant for Logic Pro X users as Ultrabeat does not appear to have changed much since version 8. All I can say is try not to be put off by Ultrabeat's convoluted and arguably ugly interface, after you have watched these tutorials you will know Ultrabeat's GUI and extensive feature set like the back of your hand.
-Paul
Brilliant! Thank you so much, guys!

Great synthesis tutorial by Rishabh Rajan in Logic Pro's mighty ES2 synthesiser! Rishabh demonstrates how to create bread and butter dance music patches, as well as techniques to overcome some of the ES2's quirks!

Xtreme Drums & Beats
Feb 6, 2015
Phenomenal course. All kinds of fantastically creative approaches to making rhythm interesting, while still keeping the alchemy of surprise combinations and the spontaneity of chance discovery alive and well. There are 'gotchas' in here that I would never even have known existed, let alone where and how to access them. Delivered quickly, precisely and with humour, the course assumes you know a fair bit about rhythm already and how to find your way around Logic. Then it takes you down the rabbit ...

Poster Design
Feb 5, 2015
The trainer is clearly very talented however; the pace at times was simply too fast. Worth the investment? Definitely as many of the suggestions, workflows and tips are simply fantastic. It is just the pace of the delivery of information at times that was the problem for me. Mouse movements in the video are so fast at times; it was a struggle to keep up in places. A great effort is made to zoom into small details to show exactly what is being changed. The length of the videos are also very se...

Excellent tutorials on mixing tips and tricks for electronic dance music. Although Ableton is utilised within this course, all knowledge is easily transferable to any other DAV.
-Paul
This was unbelievably helpful. Would LOVE to see more videos, about other features of the MPC. Sampling sounds using mics, editing the samples, some pro tips helping with the transition from "rough skeletal beat" to a full-fleshed beat. Thank you for everything, though! HIGHLY recommended.
-Sean
One can only trust that the complete set of features was covered , but the contents were very clearly presented, and even if a feature was missed (not saying that's the case), yhis LPX update was substantial and thus this course a good review.

Zebra Explored
Feb 1, 2015
This course was a thorough and detailed walk-through on a very powerful synth that is hard to find tutorials on. I am thrilled that you have covered some of the U-he products as they are some of the best software synths available. Thanks for saving me hours of reading through the manual. This was a much better way to learn this synth.
-Ryan
A great way to get started into recording, this course pretty much covers all the important aspects to consider throughout a recording session. Even if you're at an advanced level, it'll still be useful.
-MikeCViteri
Dave Earl really demonstrates the power and potential of Logic Pro X's Drummer and rum Kit Designer in this awesome tutorial! As an electronic dance music producer, to my detriment I have payed little attention to these plugins until the 1.1 update where electronic kits were implemented. All I can say is i've been losing out because even the rock and alternative kits are fantastic - check this one out!

Great tutorial on Logic's Arp by Steve H. He demonstrates how versatile this little MIDI effect is, which is not obvious at first glance. Ti be gibes, I had totally dismissed it before watching this!

I requested a score video by Peter on the MacPro forums quite a while back and WoW it was worth waiting for, Amazing! If you’re serious about developing skills in the score editor this video is a must see. A truly professional production by a great teacher. Thanks Peter, you have indeed shaved weeks, months if not years off my learning curve in the score editor.
-Dave Robinson
Great tutorial on drum synthesis by Rishabh Rajan in Logic Pro X. Rishabh shows off the capabilities of Logic's extremely powerful yet under-rated Ultrabeat Drum Synth. I would recommend watching Steve H's Ultrabeat Unleashed tutorial first if you are new to Ultrabeat.

Excellent video tutorial surely one of the best tutorial on Mac pro video. I was looking for a tutorial on making electric guitar tones and sounds just using logic pro X and came across this video. The video is very well explained without beating around the bush..it changed the way i used to look at the inbuilt guitar effects and amps in DAWs after going through the tutorial i also tried to test it on cubase 8 pro and succeeded...with some great tones coming from the guitar....Thanks Toby and mp...

-Beobe
Really useful as David Earl explains the features so that I could actually understand what they were, unlike the list that you get in the Logic Pro X 10.1 Update. MPV, as always, are so quick with the release of these tutorials... LPX 10.1 update has only been out a few days!

In November 2014 I did a trial of Cubase 7.5 and wanted to buy it but wasn't quite convinced enough to buy it then. I planned to wait until at least mid 2015. A few days after my 30 day trial expired (early Dec) I happened to see a Cubase Pro 8 announcement. This new version has a large number of improvements compared even to 7.5. I was a little frustrated by that, having just worked out how to use 7.5, but nevertheless was impressed by all the improvements. Prior to all that I had been usi...

Audio & Sound Basics
Jan 28, 2015
I will say it again and again... Joe Albano is incredible. Hands down the best instructor i have come across on this website. HIs Abbey Road course was amazing, and now this series of courses is also incredible. While i have already learned all the basics of audio etc, its been a while, and going through these courses has been an incredible asset. I think any one in audio would benefit from going through this whole series.

I rated this course 5 stars, only because 10 stars wasn't available! I am 70 years old, I have been studying music my whole life. I have read over 100 text books on composition and watched countless videos on the subject. This course, Music Scoring 101 by Gary Guttman, is hands down the best tutorial (book, video or otherwise) I have ever encountered! More usable information is taught in this course than in any 10 books. The presentation is as good as the content. I was so impressed that, halfwa...

Quicklook Guide
Jan 28, 2015
Your HTML & CSS 100 (Quick Start) is really great. After watching it, I now have an idea of what designing a web page is all about. Two important points for you to consider for improving the tutorials, especially for novices: (1) You should clarify what is the relationship between the text editor and the browser. For example, which browser can you use for testing the pages and how do you present the files to the browser. (2) Since you are jumping so rapidly in and out of a design text to add n...

Canny little tutorial on flexing vocals in Logic Pro X. I never thought I would have bothered with Flex Pitch as I am a long time Melodyne user Flex Pitch seems well integrated into Logic and will probably use it for more simple pitch operations.
-Paul
Great course I really thought that I would never find a way to really accommodate scoring and recording for instrumental parts all in one application and had always fall back to using logic and sibelius. But what a pain it is to have to go through those two steps, either write the score first, and then rework in logic... or the other way round. Now I see I can really do it all in Logic, it's going to save time, and the results are going to be good enough that I can hardly justify the double wor...

Excellent course by David Earl on the fundamentals of creating a song in Logic Pro X. He demystified the new user interface and demonstrated the new features in creative ways. My only negative is I would have preferred him to have informed us on key commands.
-Paul
I asked about this just yesterday and apparently it was already in the works because it's already here! David Earl delivers again in his usual fashion, covering the most notable new features in an easy to understand/remember manner, albeit some of it not to the depths that I'd have hoped. However, in-depth tutorials on each new thing may be in store, which would make sense. It also seem implied by David himself, so I'm looking forward to more. Great course, informative and helpful!!! Excited to try out 10.1!!!
-Loko
David Earl does it again with a quick rundown of some of the new features included with the Logic X 10.1 update. Logic really stepped up their game with this update. The new Compressor Improvements look fantastic, and the new software instruments (Cinematic, and Mellotron) are gonna keep me glued to my chair. The Drummer Plugin, and the Drum machine designer infused with the new Piano Roll Editor functionality are gonna make life a lot easier... and the only thing better than love handles?......

This is a GREAT course. If you're going to use MIDI in your production, even if it's not Orchestral, this course will have something of value for you. Peter Schwartz's knowledge of the material (both technical and musical) is quite impressive, but even better is his ability to get it across to the "trainee". This is great course for those who want to go beyond the standard use of Ableton's effects, so is suited to more experienced Live users. I would recommend this course to any budding mastering engineer regardless of what DAW they use.

I have many unsolved mysteries in my life that I believe Peter could solve. Until then, the "mocking" of orchestral sample libraries into realistic sounding music is one of the big ones. These courses are a great way to decide what software to buy. With the cost of quality software studying these courses will certainly help you decide where & in what order to spend what budget you have on what will give you the best return for your outlay as adverts do not give enough details for a decision on what & in which order to part with your pocket money. I hate demos as they tend to leave crap in your machine if you decide they are not for you. This software looks great - I want it.

Advanced Synthesis
Jan 16, 2015
Excellent follow up to 'Analog Synthesis in a Digital World'. Even as a professional sound designer, this course opened my mind to utilising more esoteric synthesis techniques in a more creative and musical context. Shame there was no further editions to this series, Richard Lainhart was a very intelligent man and a great tutor; who definitely had a lot more to offer on the subject of synthesis.

cheers to never going back to factory presets is right. even if you weren't trying to make dubstep this gives more intuition into just how much you can do with massives envelopes and lfo's. brings you up to a point where you can easily experiment to create your own sounds

I'm just now getting a bunch of Nikon gear. This course really nailed the basics of what you must understand, if you want to creatively snap quality pictures. I would have given it 5 stars if the video camera would have been more in focus as he demonstrated the camera screen settings. Mostly out of focus during the course as far as close ups of the camera screen go. But that's a technical gripe and not in any way to bemoan the awesome course is camera basics.

This course is just great and the kind of course that the intermediate and advanced user needs. After watching many (and I say maaaany) courses around, from you and also from other schools, I must say that I finally found one, full of useful techniques and interesting to watch, from the beginning to the very end. Not many times you find courses like that, so PLEASE keep it going in that direction. Incorporating advanced artists to the courses, seems to be the way to go. I'm very pleased...
- P. Alexander
Yea.. Rudess is always amazing! This course has a lot of useful ideas for composition! Great gig MacPro!!

A lot of good tips in this one. I learned a lot! To bad that some of these tips are for Pro Tools HD only.

Wow! I finally understand how the Advanced Quantization parameters work! I also picked up miscellaneous tips along the way. Thanks Jonathan!

I loved watching this tutorial. I really think I have a much better understanding of Kontakt in general and Session Pro Horns specifically. Thanks. Kawokabiosile

I found this was a good overview best suited to beginners. I felt that the individual effects should have been explored before the examples of how the effects are used overall in the mix.

Matt Vanacoro is the man. I started watching this course knowing basically nothing about my camera. It's packed with a wealth of knowledge that's delivered in a way that's easy to understand. Great teacher, great course. I'm no longer scared of my camera.

The String Section
Jan 5, 2015
A fantastic resource for anybody interested in learning about orchestration. In addition to its extremely high didactical value, which has been mentioned by many other reviewers, this course is very skillfully crafted. Pretty much the state of the art in multimedia learning material. Please, Thomas, make the other parts just as beautiful!
-J.O.E.
Fantastic! More of it, please!

Great ways you can use clips in your own music. Noah clearly shows how you use the features of clips both for organizing your ideas and manipulating parameters in launch and warp modes and automation envelopes to create new ideas.

Joe Albano is such a beast. I loved his Abbey Road course and i loved this course. I look forward to getting through all of his courses and articles. He is hands down the best audio instructor i have experienced on this website, and i have been through several dozen audio courses so far. This course was very good... If you are new to mastering, this is GOLD. I have read every mastering book out there and have taken several courses on mastering, and i still really enjoyed this and picked up a few...

Exploring Kontakt 4
Jan 3, 2015
I decided to go back to this course on Kontakt 4 for a refresher, and I have no regrets. They are additional snippets of extremely useful information that are not contained in the Kontakt 5 courses. Also, it is also a chance to get another tutors percpective. I would recommend anyone taking the Kontakt 5 courses to browse through these. 5 star all the way.
-Anthony
Great course on building a studio covering all the key points elements. This is showing the importance of all the small things that must be taken in account to avoid issues.
-Dan
Great tutorial - everything you need to know about delay and reverb in an easily digestible package.
-Arthur Spooner
I watched all 5 of Michael Wohl's courses, and I really liked them. They are very informative and I took a lot of notes. I had no idea that iMovie was as powerful as it is. My one complaint is that Mr. Wohl failed to mention anything about iMovie's "Video Overlay Settings" (Cutaway, Green/Blue Screen, Side by Side, Picture in Picture). This is a major omission for a course that looked "comprehensive". I primarily use iMovie for it's green screen capabilities, and to pay for and watc...

Having a whole bunch of experience with mockups didn't stop me from getting very good tips from this tutorial. It is made very well, with a lot of humor included! I would love to see more tutorials with similar topics.

* Very thoroughly researched and presented * Good selection of topics * Great approach to decouple general concepts from specific implementations, while still going over the most important DAWs and plugins * What's most important for me: The teacher comes across very low key and normal, without the fluff and artificial excitement of other trainers

Beat Immersion
Jan 1, 2015
I thought this was good without being brilliant. Liquid Rhythm is a powerful tool with radical concepts that need to be explained very carefully. So while I got the general gist of it, when I started playing around with LR myself I didn't feel I had enough grasp of the workflow to be creative out of the gate. It really needs more example workflows, worked through in detail, than the ones G.W. took us through. I felt the examples were rushed, as a seasoned expert occasionally does, assuming you u...
-Alister Webb
Great little course. Not deep at all in terms of technique.. But i thought it was great for checking out a bunch of amazing plugins. And there were a few useful tips in there too. I have been considering a UAD card for a while and this course allowed me to see and hear a lot of the plugins i have been considering. Totally getting one now! Good stuff!
-District Sound Lab
A good rundown of the instruments... I was excited to see Olav was teaching this course. He is very knowledgeable and no b.s. like if he doesn't like something he'll just say it. So when he says this or that is a great feature... it really is. He's clear and concise when he describes what he's doing. And he makes some funny comment every once in a while so you don't fall asleep!

It's a very nice tutorial because it's rare to take an experimental breathe in a tutorial. Inject some randomness is a very interesting in electronic music, it's like spices. I totally loved this course. It was the perfect content for what I'm trying to do musically as am amateur composer/producer. Best overview of compression I've seen yet. Obviously one could go far deeper on any one of these topics, but I appreciated the balance with "keeping it simple." Nicely presented. However, if you've been thru the Illustrator 7 CC 100 series I don't think there's any need to spend the time watching these. There are a couple of cool gems though, for me 'Understanding Colorization Methods' and the pulling-out-of the spiral in 'The Right Tools' almost made it worth matching.

Michael Wohl is one of my favourite MPV trainers. I learnt just about everything I know about Final Cut Pro from his tutorials. Now, with iMovie being so powerful, I think that this app may serve my needs just as well. Michael is like a breath of fresh air. Yes, he knows a lot but he has that happy knack of not ramming it down your throat. His tutorials are well structured and well thought-out and delivered with his trade-mark sense of humour. Fantastic tutorial. Working as a freelancer and learning this stuff "on your own," you hope and pray that tutorials will be this helpful. Thanks again to MPV for yet another fantastic course. From the day I joined MPV till now, I have learned more about audio than I ever thought I would, and enjoyed it as well. Brilliant Course! A+++ I just purchased Waves Codex recently and it is FULL of functionality that would've taken me ages to discover!! Matt Vanacoro is obviously a master at this DEEP synth! He explained every part of it with excellent examples and even showed in the course how to design some patches to get you started. Great teaching style and in-depth knowledge made this one of my favorites! Keep up the great work! Maybe we could get a Codex Advanced course? :o)

Hollin Jones does it again! He takes Reason through its paces in order to get the new user's feet wet. Not only does he show you each section of this in-depth program, but he also shows you examples of how to use them. I had to chuckle a couple of times when he'd show something in a tutorial and it wouldn't work for him. I've had that happen to me, too! This is a very very basic course. However, i am still really glad i went through it because as always, i picked up a few bits that made the whole thing worth it. -aleuz360@gmail.com
For some reason these four "Waves Hot Products" courses are all plagued with terrible editing, mislabeled chapters, and very bad spelling (it's Rihanna, not Riahnna, dude). That said, this course was still awesome because the content was so good. It was short and sweet, but its invaluable seeing a mixing pro like Manny talk about how he uses his tools. Pure gold!

This was a cool course. I know all the plugins discussed very well, but it was cool to get some insight and see them discussed. I enjoyed CLA talk about how he likes to use his comps. Stutter Edit: Explored
Dec 19, 2014
I have completed several dozen courses on here, and this course was the first time i had to heavily supplement with other tutorials, the manual, etc. This is because the instructor, while super funny and cool, has an atypical teaching style where he jumps around a bit and doesn't provide a conceptual explanation before going into the details. Not having used Stutter Edit before, the course began with a very easy to follow intro, but when it got into the meat and potatoes i was incredibly lost, w...

I've used multiple libraries in the past but it never occurred to me to use a matching EQ to speed up my workflow - no more fiddling around for me! Terrific course and exactly what I was looking for. A trained ear can hear those telltale signs of hamfisted computer orchestration (guilty as charged) and Peter Schwartz pointed out some things I definitely hadn't thought of but ... of course, I can see/hear those infractions throughout my pieces. I really loved this course. Polyplex was one of my favorite additions to Komplete 10 Ultimate, because in a world of 100 versions of the same old instrument, this plugin actually brought something new to the table. By being able to stack sounds and randomize multiple parameters, and modulate them super easily and flexibly, you can create some really cool sounds and beats and patterns. And its not just for beats... There is so much you can do with this truly insane instrument. After watching this...

I picked up the course in bits over a few days. I will go back and jot down notes. I found the information and the instructors' approach to be just what I needed. It was inspiring. I will take each of the exercises and make my own mock ups to continue the study of these templates for moods. Big thanks to the instructor. PLEASE produce more like this!

Really good informative course on music theory which is kind of boring to learn but you will need it to understand so much of what you do musically otherwise you will not advance. This I found there is no shortcut for & if you make it second nature you will improve in every area. This video is excellent & I will be referring to it over & over again until hopefully I won't need the time spent working out what key I'm actually in.

excellent content, however this should be part 1 of 2. Gary knocked it out of the park on this one. This course demystifies the topic, bridges a HUGE gap and makes film scoring so much more approachable. He breaks down everything so clearly and teaches with more of a "let's really get you speaking the language and expressing yourself" approach. If I don't produce results after this video… it's on me… He's given me all the tools I need to really do this. Gary, Thank You So Much… and please create more courses like this… take us...

Hollin Jones does it again! He presents this course with a very thorough understanding of the material at hand. He does it in such a way that there's no question was he's talking about. Very concise and to-the-point. The only reason for the 4 out of 5 was because he gets pretty quiet sometimes while talking and I've fallen asleep during a tutorial and had to watch it over again. :o) Still, if you want to really learn to make music in Reason (especially Dubstep), this is the course for you!

Really great course covering several advanced audio editing. Beat mapping is very useful and I also liked the audio repair section.
-Dan
Good coverage nicely executed. Helped me brush on a few topics i had forgotten. Nice

Anyone interested in learning more about sound design, and mixing in Logic Pro X will benefit from watching this course. Mo uses Logic Plugins, and also shows alternative workflows including 3rd party plugins.

Acoustics
Dec 9, 2014
Joe Albano Audio Concepts series is a great one. He strikes a great balance throughout in a very likeable and informative style. This course, acoustics, again finds the right balance between the theory and practical relevant details, demonstrating how these concepts relate to production effects and techniques as well as studio acoustics. Nice visual examples, illustrations. The series builds and is a great primer or review. This is one series I look forward to completing in full.

Pro Mixing Techniques
Dec 9, 2014
A nice course with lots of good tips. I have learned a lot! But I could not help being distracted by the volume changes between many of the lessons. So -1 star for that.
-Henrik Granat
When I saw this course announced I had to immediately watch it and I was not disappointed. A very inspiring insight into orchestral composition and orchestration. I wish there were more courses on this topic especially by Gary Guttman.

Rhythm
Dec 8, 2014
Good, straightforward, musical rhythm theory. Particularly useful for producers/arrangers/composers who are not drummers.
-Simtech16
So Bill has a dry presentation style (and humour to match) but his knowledge of Live is second to non and he is continually shining a bright light on this brilliant software as i transfer my skills across from Logic - which requires a slightly different mindset IMO. Unfortunately watching this course has cost me £350 - as having seen the huge fun/control options in the last video i now HAVE to buy an iPad. (Yes - i'm late to the iPad party - but better late than never!!) Nice work Dude !!
-Keith_UK
Great creative presentation. Many uses for these two "swiss army knives" of processing. May become an essential part of my arsenal. Thanks

Ultrabeat Unleashed
Dec 8, 2014
Steve Horelick is tops in this tutorial, seeing his name as trainer is my 1st indicator that it's going to be a must watch. So much info, must watch this again.
-Ren
I’ve been through nearly 30 MacProVideo courses at this point - all of which I’ve loved; Music Scoring 101 is the only one I’ve watched twice. Gary makes takes the enormous task of scoring, simplifies it in the clearest of ways, and makes his teaching immediately actionable. I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time poring over theory resources. After this course, now I know how to take that knowledge and pull the trigger. Super grateful! Thanks, Gary!

I've said it in 1000 reviews before and I will say it again. I think I learned more from this website then I did in four years of music college.

A great primer on basic vocal techniques with clear and concise tips. Would like to see some more in depth lessons on the different aspects of honing your own voice, performing in different situations, and recording for certain purposes, but overall very nice

Battery 3
Dec 6, 2014
Battery 3 is that drum design tool of epic proportion, Chris Butcher revealed area's of this drum plug-in that where sitting in-front of me and I now know better.
-Ren
Awesome. This succinctly points me in the right basic direction for each of the styles I typically would like to write for. I agree that it helps to have some basic music theory. As trained musician - but not necessarily a good composer this was absolute gold!
-Tuoni
I have finished about 30 or so courses on here thus far, and have learned something from and enjoyed all of them. But this course was something special. Not only did i learn these plugins inside out, but there was so much amazing history revealed and the whole thing was just such a joy. I can't recommend this course enough. If you want to learn about these amazing plugins, and you also want to learn about the history of Abbey Road studios, the Beatles' recording techniques, tape recording, ADT, ...

Xtreme Drums & Beats
Dec 4, 2014
WOW! Watched many tutorials on MPV and they are all generally really good. But for me this one really inspired me to think a bit more outside the box with Logic and really rekindled my appreciation for the included possibilities within Logic and not needing to necessarily reach for 3rd party plugins. Loved the general fast paced, not spending too long on little things like can (for me at least) be boring in other tutorials. Hope to see more tips and tricks from Bill! :D
--benny
Fantastic course! I've been looking for something like this for a very long time. It helps to have a basic understanding of a bit of theory and harmony, but it isn't strictly necessary. I hope there are more in this series...
-gesslr
An excellent introduction to the tools in InDesign. Mark Gatter has a well humoured approach to course delivery which keeps you engaged and covers all the basics to get you started with document design.
-Matthew Staples
Thanks again MPV for another absolutely fantastic tutorial. I am very impressed with the fact that this tutorial was put out the day Cubase Pro 8 came out. I downloaded in the morning and on a hunch went to your site, and low and behold, Matt was there to teach me the new features of this awesome upgrade! Kudos for that. From the major new features, to the smallest but no less important details, it seems you got it all. Keep up the good work.

The only reason I give this course a low star rating is that its not my DAW & I do not (unfortunately) have any UAD plug-ins. If you've got them then this is for you.
-Dv8ter
MPV has excellent trainers, David Earl in my book is the best of the best, with a concise, clear teaching style that kept me entertained from beginning to end. There is so much good info in this module, It's a must do twice.

I recently jumped to Cubase from Logic and started tackling the new DAW with MacProVideo's courses. This course gave solid information about Cubase's basic operations and even though I'm on version 7.5 and this deals with 6, none of the information was outdated.

This course has served to provide me with very valuable advice when it comes to mixing period! Whether it be pop or other genres of music, it translates in my book. Chris Potter via MPV, priceless!

Another eye-opening course from Olav. As a long time Logic user i am still finding my feet with Live 9 (though i still use both) and Olav's 'hands-on' track making approach and relaxed teaching style are definitely pushing me in the right direction - even though he is still the King of Parameter Tweaking !! Excellent use of the inbuilt plug-ins - especially EQ and Dynamics - proving you really don't need everything 'Waves' have ever released to make your track sound "Pro". Next course idea for...

I have been using Cubase for years but I never knew much of this information. Although I have version 7 I decided to start here. I think this is a great tutorial and a great place to get to know Cubase.

This course is really of use only to people who use multiple macs and iOS devices, all of which are newer than mid 2012. This is mainly because of Bluetooth requirements for 'handoff', or 'continuity' features. Also aimed more towards folk who have little knowledge of cloud and synchronisation services.

Excellent course! Straight and "to the point" tutorials. I would certainly recommend this course to anyone looking at getting into game audio as long as you use Logic. It would be really nice if this course could also be done in Reason or Ableton (or even in Pro Tools). Thanks!

These are fantastic videos! please film more. WaveLab is the most confusing software ever, and this guy teaches it very effectively. I would have preferred a more detailed description of audio language with regard to peak levels, average levels, etc. That is a very subjective thought.
-FireHouse Recording
Very good tutorial, specially if Logic is your main DAW. Earl is an excellent teacher and I learned many useful things with this tutorial. Highly recommended if you´re new to game audio.

Great course. If you're a beginner and want to record voiceovers, this will be absolute GOLD. For someone who does this for a living, it was super basic for me... HOWEVER i learned a few little tid bits that made it all worth it. This is why i love going through some of these courses even though i already know the material... Well-paced, this gets to the point in the areas I needed to know. The instructor is knowledgeable, confident and smooth in his explanations. Enjoyed his clever "noodlings" on each instrument - efficient way to sample and taste the sounds yet move on with purpose. I really felt I could focus on the material and not be distracted or over-entertained by the personality. His off-hand comments about certain methods and styles within the keyboard culture were refreshing. All in all, I'm impressed with...

Producing The End Men
Nov 13, 2014
I like the in depth look at microphone placement and set up. I also love the drummer. The tips on how to make a bigger sound in a smaller room was great. I will be implementing that in my home studio setup. I am wondering a bit about the fascination of murdering spouses. The very first song in the Song Writing series was about the same topic. Other than the Stephen Kingesque lyrical plots, I like the end projects.

The collaborative was the best that I have seen in this series. It showed the creative process from beginning to end. It also showed how a small idea can morph into a masterpiece. As I have written in each of my reviews thus far in this series, this is very inspirational. It makes you want to get up and write some music.

MIDI Demystified
Nov 12, 2014
As an electronic music producer setting up a new studio - I found this course invaluable. Everything you wanted and NEED to know about midi integration. This course is one all budding (and experienced!) music producers should watch.
-SupaFly
I find these videos very inspirational, however this one was lacking. The most informative and intuitive part is with the engineer. He breaks down the software that he is using, how he applies it, and how he polishes the project without going into too much detail. So from a recording standpoint this would receive 5 stars, however on a songwriting point of view it is not as informative.
-Rachelle Lang
Mo Valons is a professional educator. He know how to deliver the information, information about subjects on which he is an expert. He is performing a real service to musicians of all ilks.

This is more so a video about the individuals in the video's song writing process. I would consider it more a documentary than a tutorial. It is however, very inspirational for those who need a little motivation.

So well done - clear, concise, authoritative yet done in a personable way. I felt a trust factor. Ti9me well spent. Congrats.

Very Interesting Course on Ozone 6. Naturally I will have to review the course over and over to process all of the elements. Well done to macProVideo I am going to review all of the relevant courses to me over the next few days given the offer presented to me kindly by macProVideo. I will then decide whether to continue with the plan to access all materials. Top site

I liked the idea of adding a doubler to the fx return. I could have used demonstrative instruction on some of the plugins in relation to the songs he was working on.

Martin Perhiniak brought me out of the dark and gave me the knowledge I need to manipulate my photo's with LightRoom. Yet another MPV eye opener.

Michael Wohl dives into the basic's with a very clear teaching style. Watch this tutorial and tell me what you think. MPV and featured trainers, priceless.

David Earl's coverage of Logic Pro X is on point, no complaints here. MPV, David Earl, what a combo!

This course helped me to hear the tonal quality of several scales. Some of them are harder to find for me so i'll need to redo some of the tutorial, but in general, it is now easier for me. The modes sections was a bit fast for me.

Jeremy, because of your tape I bought the Maschine Studio. I'm a concert pianist and have quick fingers, nonetheless the routine is challenging. :) Thank you for being such a true artist with great personality and teaching skills. I'm delighted to take this to the next level.

Wow, this is a fantastic tool! I will never hire a drummer for my demoes again ...
-Bjorn Vang
Great stuff! Demystifying magical tools in a brilliant tutorial! :)

I learned a lot already on macprovideo.com, but this course beats everything for me. Absolute eye-opening.

Iain Anderson gets kudos for his thorough coverage of the Illustrator basic mixed with logo design. MPV never fails or disappoints, I'm addicted to MPV!-)

Siobhan Twomey opens my minds eye like a door, brilliant in her approach to the given topic. I can only hope she will make more of these great tutorials. Thanks MPV!-)

Being fairly new to EDM (yes really) i wasn't aware that Olav was pretty famous in certain circles - so its really nice to learn from someone who has 'been there and done that' - so to speak. His Logic Pro X tips are great - though if you have watched his other courses some will already be quite familiar !! Lots of new stuff on offer too though - and some particularly nice pre-set up tips and very cool compression stuff too !! Keep 'em coming Olav !! :-)

This instructor is not only knowledgeable but a fantastic educator. He really knows how to explain the subject matter.

I love the concise overview given here by Francesco. Quick and to the point. Thanks!

Super tutorial video! The only minus is in 2 of the videos, where the tutorial turns black in several seconds.

Overall a great course. I thought the "Production Techniques" chapter was by far the coolest, because it actually showed some insight into how these guys do what they do. None of the techniques were particularly mind blowing, but that in itself is a lesson. With all the plugins and options nowadays, it can be very easy to get caught up. These dudes make cool house music in a straightforward way because they have good ideas, period, not because they have the newest plugins that they do crazy stuf...

In video 18 Advanced Emitter Settings at 1:55 in, he says "some of the particles are gonna live longer and some of them are gonna die shorter". That's funny because he teaches video editing. This tutorial is good and very helpful to learn Apple's Motion 5 but like many of MacProVideo's tutorials, they're short and feel rushed. I've played two different videos of this tutorial series at the same time, and it sounds like they're repeating each other. So like everything, improvements can be made bu...
